Re: On belief systems

Difficult to agree with you on the assertion that "Chinese people don't believe in anything" because I don't know how we could prove or disprove it. So I'll hedge my bets by saying some Chinese people seem to believe in traditional medicine; the family;Confucianism; Taoism (Daoism); tiger mothers; e...

To me, working in a private school in China is akin to working in a Sales and Marketing position in the West. If you can 'put up the numbers' that the company wants then yes, you'll be successful. The reason for this is that most private schools expend more time and effort on sales and marketing tha...

Chinese just love institutions. Obviously 'the party' is still the biggest of them (and is likely to be so for some time) but with more and more people in China joining the church, it's acting like a gravitational pull. People are less concerned with belief or faith and more concerned about being le...

Money is their God. It is appalling for me to see this, I used to be greedy and selfish like that in the late 80's, early 90's, like looking in a mirror, but I cured my addiction to consumerism in the mid 90's. Interesting points mate. I recently met an old friend, who is now an ex friend, who told ...

I agree. For sure the americans have lead the chinese astray in many ways due to their own bad habits. The worst weasels almost always are american, it's a consistent pattern. I want to add that some of the worst types of these "human beings" stayed in china for years on end and NEVER bothered to le...

Chinese people don't believe in anything. They might say "I'm a Christian", whatever, but they don't really believe. Many Chinese students have told me this. Chinese people have stupidly followed Western consumer culture, you could say they have slavishly followed it. Chinese believe in new cars ( m...

I am a former teacher at this school as well To mention that there is a misconduct there is to say nothing In so many words most of foreign schools that operate in China maintain the same policy Either you cooperate with the local management or you are out I am still working in China in one of the f...
Re: China: 4,500 USD from EF Changchun - a pack full of lies????

I don't believe you. I know for sure EF is crap, and I would not trust them at all!...

Correct deduction, it was the 2001 survey. As I'm out of that area of work now, ( 'quality of life surveys' for local government with Ipsos Mori), I'm not familar with the latest census data. I keep my location to myself but I work in a coastal city. And I've visited all the places you mentioned, al...

So what's the problem ? That's a pretty standard contract and since I have worked for that same company (Changchun) I also know that everything in that contract is honoured as well . Secondly , that works out to considerably more than double $4500 a year , that's enough to buy anything you want in C...
